Debbie’s success as an interior designer begins with her ability to listen to the desires of her clients. She believes that a project is successful only if it reflects their personality. Interior design is a collaborative relationship that incorporates those desires with the application of her professional training and experience. Debbie’s attention to detail, as well as her strong sense of color, pattern, and scale, is a great advantage in achieving the goals of each design project. Her ability to incorporate clients’ existing furnishings into projects results in homes that are both personal and unique to each.
Driven by her passion for interior design, and further inspired by her father who was a builder, Debbie knew as a young woman she wanted to apply her inherent artistic ability and affinity for interiors toward a career in interior design. Over the past 26 years, Debbie has built a successful interior design business from the ground up with most of her work having been acquired through referrals and repeat clients. “A personal working relationship is essential between the client and designer in residential interior design; the fact that I am a ‘people person’ has served me well in this area.”
Debbie has designed over 100 projects in her career, serving clients with all types of styles, including traditional, transitional, modern farmhouse and contemporary, to name a few. As a result of growing up with a father in the building industry, one of Debbie’s unique skill sets is her construction knowledge. She is completely at home overseeing start-to-finish home renovations and is more than adept at selecting and overseeing various contractors, managing timelines, and guiding clients through the material selection process. Debbie has saved clients money and time while providing total peace-of-mind in what can be an otherwise stressful undertaking.
Debbie possesses a bachelor’s degree in interior design, having graduated Cum Laude and was the proud recipient of the Franke B. Poole Award (most likely to succeed). She has served as a board member of the interior design program of her alma mater, East Tennessee State University and has instructed interior decorating classes in adult education. In addition, she is an allied member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and the Interior Design Society (ids).
